What changed in this edition

This AFI has been completely rewritten in order to comply with SECAF guidance and needs to be completely reviewed. Major changes in this revision include removal of duplicative items found in other AFIs, mandated use of standardized duty titles, separation of duties requirements where required, inclusion of tiering designation to Wing level and below requirements, re-alignment of tool and equipment control/management requirements back to AFI 21-101, Aircraft and Equipment Maintenance Management. Additionally, clarifies leadership roles with crew rest interruptions, clarifies quality assurance program and inspection guidance, changes to the key and lock chapter, eliminates Chapter 6 on In-Process Inspections and Special Certification Rosters, changes Quality Assurance (QA) database to an Air Force approved database and adds the use of other notification systems as approved by the installation commander for Security Forces/Fire Department notifications. This revision updates procedures to account for implementation of the AF DoDAAC WMS, adds new terminology, identifies responsibilities in greater detail, clarifies the purpose and use of various types of DoDAACs, and reorganizes informa tion.
