Major changes include: updated statutory authorities; removed and updated all reference to the defunct Heritage Board; added Space Force’s field commands (FLDCOMs); adju sted wording to include the new Collection Information Management System (CIMS) and deleted reference to the legacy Air Force Museum Artifact Tracking system (AFMATS); emphasized Priority Aircraft Placement, in which an organization with the resources top lace rare aircraft indoors may be given priority consideration for aircraft placement; reworded to further clarify the words artifact (more specific – object and historical property) and accession number (catalog number – more specific extension of the acc ession number); stressed importance of supporting unit funding responsibility in planning for heritage activities; and updated preservation and display standards, to include lighting, climate control, radiation, and firearms display/storage. Periodic commander and MAJCOM or FLDCOM/ History Office (HO) approval for heritage activity strategic plans changed from biennially to triennially, with more frequent approval required for substantial updates
