This instruction prescribes guidance for DAF military awards. Personnel and units at all levels ensure compliance with this publication. Processing procedures and award criteria can be found in DAFMAN 36-2806, Military Awards: Criteria and Procedures.
This interim change revises DAFI 36-2803 by incorporating changes by removing Head of Staff Office (paragraph 2.2.5.4.3) and re-establish authority for ANG (Table 2.2). It also incorporated guidance from the Secretary of War Memorandum, Requirement to Formally Present Purple Heart Medals and Valor Decorations, dated 30 September 2025. A margin bar (|) indicates newly revised material
Paragraphs this edition names as changed:
Publications state their own changes on page 1 — behind a PDF the official host will not serve to a search engine. This is that section, verbatim. It describes the edition above, not every historical change.
| Functional community | Publications | Which ones |
|---|---|---|
| Financial Management | 1 | DAFMAN 65-605V1 |
| Law | 1 | DAFI 51-505 |
2 publications in 2 other communities depend on this one, which Personnel owns. Each community inspects its own publications; a dependency that crosses communities is owned by nobody, which is why this list normally does not exist anywhere. Built from the publications' own citations, so it reflects what we have read.
If DAFI 36-2803 changes, these are the documents that point at it. Extracted from the publications' own text, so it reflects what we have read, not a complete dependency map. Every publishing office validates its own document; nobody validates the seams between them.
Records in this branch carrying the same series and number — interim changes, guidance memoranda, and unit supplements. A copy stamped with one of these is a different document from the base publication.
