This manual provides guidance and procedures for preparing hazardous materials for shipment by military aircraft to ensure that such materials are packaged, marked, labeled, and prepared properly for transportation. It includes the shipment of nuclear mate rials, except for nuclear weapon major assemblies and nuclear components packaged and shipped per Department of Energy-Defense Nuclear Agency (DOE-DNA) TP 45-51/Army TM 39-45-51/Navy SWOP 45-51/Air Force TO 11N-45-51, Transportation of Nuclear Weapons Material, and its supplements. This publication does not apply to the Civil Air Patrol. It includes labeling requirements, instructions for transporting passengers with hazardous materials and instructions for notifying the aircraft commander regarding hazardous materials on the aircraft.
This rewrite of AFMAN 24-604 is in response to international and domestic hazardous materials regulation changes, user feedback, and publication recommendations. It incorporates Administrative Change, 11 May 2021. It includes updates to the international dangerous goods and domestic Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR)
Publications state their own changes on page 1 — behind a PDF the official host will not serve to a search engine. This is that section, verbatim. It describes the edition above, not every historical change.
These Code of Federal Regulations references appear in AFMAN 24-604 but are not in the current CFR — checked against the eCFR structure API. A part can vanish because it was removed or reorganised, and some references are simply mistyped in the source publication. Either way the pointer is dead: verify before relying on it, and check every publication affected.

6 publications in 4 other communities depend on this one, which Transportation owns. Each community inspects its own publications; a dependency that crosses communities is owned by nobody, which is why this list normally does not exist anywhere. Built from the publications' own citations, so it reflects what we have read.
If AFMAN 24-604 changes, these are the documents that point at it. Extracted from the publications' own text, so it reflects what we have read, not a complete dependency map. Every publishing office validates its own document; nobody validates the seams between them.
